We landed in St. Lucia a little before 2pm. Everything was SO green! From the air port we had to take a shuttle bus for the 1hr 30min drive to the resort. The entire island is only about 16 miles long {I think} but because the roads are so winding and there are so many hills it takes FOREVER to get from one side to the other.
This is us on the shuttle. I started to get car sick and had to put my head down and close my eyes. It was probably a mix of not having a real meal all day, sleeping on the plane in my contacts, and zig zagging on the road.
We finally got to the resort and this was the view from our room. It had started to rain on the way there so it's a little gloomy. We got checked-in and then they had an "orientation" you could go to where they walked you around and showed you where everything was.
The next day we slept in and after we got dressed we headed to Neptune's. {All the places I will mention were at the resort. We didn't have to leave for anything!} We had a fresh baked pizza with some fruity cocktails, then headed to the beach.
The water was incredibly blue and the perfect temperature. We only spent this one day {really about an hour} on the actual beach. We preferred the pool because you could still hear the water and there were no locals coming up to you asking for money or selling drugs. {We referred to them as "the party boys"}
This is from the water looking back up at the resort. Where the umbrellas are is the main pool area and that's where we spent most of our time!
Our drink of choice was a banana daquiri. Banana's are one of St. Lucia's major exports and they are so much better fresh! In each daquiri they put a fresh banana.... it was delicious!!
Wednesday morning we took a segway {sp?} tour. G hopped onto his and started doing circles instantly.... me, not so much. If you know me, you know this is not really my thing. But, I got the hang of it and ended up having a blast! We got to see some of the island and try a bunch of fresh local fruits. {When I say fresh I mean that our tour guide picked them off the tree that morning! That's fresh!} Not to mention, the segways were pretty cool!
Us with the tour guide.
We had a blast seeing the island and riding through the rainforest. Next post coming soon!
How fun to ride those things!
